big boy birthday

Thor turned four a few days ago. It hardly seems possible, but he is basically a fully-functioning little person these days. As part of the birthday festivities, he had a sleepover with a couple of his cousins. He took the preparations quite seriously, ordering Jared to clean the bathrooms and getting very concerned about where everyone would sleep. He was sure that sleeping bags on the living room floor would not be adequate for his guests and it took quite a bit of convincing to accept that this is a sleepover norm. When the big moment finally arrived, it turned out to be quite a success, what with movies and popcorn and the general aura of excitement. Winnie even managed to insert herself into the early stages of the party (she was relegated to the couch and not given a sleeping bag) until it got too late for her.  The kids eventually fell asleep. Maybe next time we’ll try turning off the movies earlier and seeing it they can settle themselves down. Jared served Mickey Mouse pancakes in the morning and discovered that they are not quite as effortless as Ricky makes them look. Almost the moment the festivities had concluded, Thor was pitching proposals for another “leftover sleep”. It was the perfect little birthday gathering!
