I am in the kitchen when Jared calls to me from the living room, sounding concerned.
Jared: Hey, have you seen this crusty stuff behind the baby's ear?
Me: Yes.
Jared: This white stuff?
Me: Yes. It's just on one side, right?
Jared: Yes.
Me: That's just milk. He drooled and it ran behind his ear.
Jared: Really?
Me: Yes.
A couple of observations here. First of all, my baby is a messy breastfeeder. I didn't even know this was possible, but he is forever dribbling and drooling milk all over the place. It's kind of a pain. Second, I guess maybe I am a lazy mother, because when I saw the crusty milk behind his ear, it didn't even occur to me to go wash it off. I just assessed the situation and moved on.
