The cable guy came over last night and with a little help from Pork Chop in drilling through the cement block wall, we were able to accommodate the TV to my satisfaction. I am very happy with the way our living room layout is coming along. In a related incident, another tenant in our building lost his free cable yesterday, so as usual we are spreading good will left and right.
At about 8:00 last night I got a call from a very disgruntled Pork Chop who had been on the phone with India for an hour. Apparently the self-install kit for the high speed cable isn't designed for a Mac, so he had to call Comcast for special instructions. The individual on the other end of the line had a less-than-complete command of English. At one point, Pork Chop was reading a series of numbers back to the customer service rep. When he said "eight," this guy repeated back "four?" Pork Chop kept reiterating "No, eight." "Four?" "Eight!!! EEEIIIIGHT!!!" Who knows what the problem was, but he was at his wit's end.
Somehow he resisted the urge to hang up and finally got through it and got the modem configured and all is well, yea Zion prospereth, yea verily the Hexbergs have both cable TV and internet. Soon we will once again settle into complacency about more pressing matters as we primarily look forward to the next episode of American Idol.
