Dream job

I called the state board of accountancy today to request some documents I need in order to get reciprocity on my out-of-state CPA license. It turns out they are closed on Mondays. CLOSED ON MONDAYS. Everywhere else you call, they tell you that "call volumes are highest on Mondays and Tuesdays". That's right -- more business is transacted on Monday than on most days of the week, and that's when these people choose to close. Coincidence? I think not.

I appreciate that state agencies can afford to be completely indifferent to a concept that the rest of us hold dear -- the concept of customer service; heck, I'm familiar with entire countries that reject the notion, but the absurdity of it still gets to me. I really should check into whether they're hiring.
