We are launching into a minor remodeling of the Hexberg estate. By "minor" I mean there will be no major structural changes and we are not doing anything significant to the kitchens or bathrooms yet. We (i.e., Jared) are patching and painting walls, tearing up the 30-year-old carpet and restoring the hardwood floors underneath it in the main living areas, messing a bit with the electrical, and installing some new light fixtures and window coverings. Later this year we'd like to recarpet and repaint the bedrooms and install crown molding in the living room.
Next year we plan to replace the windows and siding and do a bit of work on the roof.
Someday we will remodel the kitchen, repour the driveway and build a shop behind the house.
If we strike it rich we'll build an addition by adding a second story or pushing out the back of the house. Or maybe we'll just move. Ironically, from time to time we toy with moving back to the LBC, where we have a remodeling list which is arguably more extensive than this one. It seems that for better or for worse, endless home improvement is our destiny.
