Inhibitions

We are talking about an acquaintance who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and observing that the disease appears to be in its very early stages.

Jared:  When you have to run out there and offer him a towel, then you'll know it's progressing.
My Dad:  What? A towel?
All of us: silence
Jared:  You know, there's a certain freedom that comes with age. I came into this world buck naked and that's how I'm going out.

Me:  OK.
Jared:  It's the opposite of the "die with your boots on" philosophy. Take my boots off! And the socks, too; they're constricting.

Me:  I'll try to remember that.
