Summer fun

You may recall that there is a little plaza with what is alternately a skating rink or reflecting pool, depending on the season, outside my office. In the summer, they hold free Thursday night concerts there which are attended by people packed into a tiny patch of grass and standing shoulder-to-shoulder throughout the plaza. I guess folks start showing up early, because I looked out my window just now and noticed a bunch of blankets (empty, of course) already acting as placeholders, and a few guys in beach and lawn chairs.

Oddly, these men seem to think they are actually at the beach -- there is a smattering of bare beer bellies and what appear from this distance to be fairly small shorts. Honestly, this is not an attractive look in an urban setting, and never an attractive look in any setting for individuals of these dimensions. It looks like they went to special lengths to get off of work early in order to stake out some prime turf, and now they've blown it by ensuring that no one sober will want to get within ten feet of them. Wait... maybe I have my answer right there. There must be alcohol involved.
