eBay surprise

Me: (noticing an opened package on the floor by the couch) Oh, look -- my books came.
Jared: Yeah.
Me: Well, thank you for opening them and then not telling me they were here.
Jared: I was hoping to surprise you.
Me: I'm not too surprised.

(You can't tell from this, but I actually was quite amused, mainly at the idea of being "surprised" by an order I placed myself.)
