New wheels

We've been discussing getting rid of Old Gray, our faithful family luxury car, for a while now. I am putting about 100 miles a day on the car, and most likely will start to incur significant maintenance costs before it is paid off, and what with one thing and another and the Little Pork Chop on the way, we thought it made sense to get more of a Point A to Point B type vehicle.

Last week Jared had a sudden stroke of inspiration and remembered seeing an older-model Honda Accord at a house in our neighborhood where he installed cable a while ago. The owner is no longer able to drive and the car had been sitting unattended for a couple of years. Remarkably, it turned out to be a 1990 with only 50,000 miles.

Jared went over and made an offer on it last week. I was dubious about the plan, since we have several items of electronics that cost more than he offered for this car. The owner actually wanted to negotiate lower, and by the time they agreed on an amount, let's just say that this car was as close to a steal as it is possible to get without actually commiting theft.

Jared has done a little routine maintenance on our new acquisition, and already has it registered and everything. It is officially ours, and it is running fine. We are making a few minor repairs to Old Gray, and then she will go on the market. Things sure are changing around here.
